Cloth diapers have helped in many ways. We originally switched to cloth because my son has very sensitive skin. I tried every brand of suposies under the sun and not one worked with with my baby's skin. Then after 3 months of fighting rashes we finally took the plunge to cloth and have never looked back since. His skin immediately cleared up after the first week of wearing cds.
Another reason why we switched to cloth was because DF's hours got cut back to part time which left us with less of an income coming in. Between our energy saver washer/dryer and cding, I have really noticed a difference.
Now that I am a cding mom, I find myself talking about cds everywhere. I guess you could sort of call me a cloth advocate. Anytime I come across a mom that talks about her child skin sensitivity I always educate them about cloth diapers. Sometimes I get funny looks or get the "ew" comment, but I have helped out a few mothers who's babies bottoms are now rash free!

Cloth diapers have helped me save so much money! I have to admit, I did spend a little too much at the beginning on really hyped up dipes, but even then I still saved money over sposies.

Cloth diapers have also opened my eyes to environmental issues. I used to not care a lick - now I realize how much what I do actually matters! It started small - just cloth diapering my little girl - and now I am starting to recycle my grocery bags and reusing my ziploc bags. I know this will lead to other changes too!

thank you so much!

When I was pregnant with my daughter (our first child) I never gave it a thought. People don't use cloth anymore, right? Then A friend of mine, who wasn't even married at the time, asked me one day if I planned to use disposables or cloth on my baby. I told her disposables, but then it made me think. "I guess cloth diapers do still exist," I thought to myself. So I got online and a brand new world opened to me. I would be a baby wearing, breastfeeding, cloth diapering mama. I was going to be "crunchy"!

Or so I thought. My daughter was born last May and she HATED the slings and baby carriers we tried. She did nothing but scream. Strike one. Then she was diagnosed with a very rare genetic disorder, galactosemia, which means her body can't break down galactose, one of the milk sugars in lactose. Continuing to breastfeeding would be fatal. Strike two. But the cloth diapers? They allow a little bit of crunch in my life. And we love them (even my husband uses prefolds and tells people how easy they are).

Now that friend who asked me about cloth is married and pregnant with her first child, a boy, due in May - almost exactly one year to the day after my daughter was born. She calls me on a near daily basis to talk about diapers. She had no idea what she was starting when she asked the simple almost exactly a year ago.

One of the reasons I love using cloth diapers is that I hate hate hate disposable diapers! I don't like the way they smell, clean or dirty, I don't like how they pile up so fast and fill up the garbage, I don't like that I hate to toss one even if it's just a little wet and I hate that they are so expensive.
My 19mo daughter is actively PLing these days and I think being in cloth helps since she knows when she is soiling her diaper.
I really love cloth diapers and you can get them cheap if you are willing to buy used, and not so pretty ones.

I actually have never used cloth diapers but I would love to try. I have twin boys that are 18 months old, and as you can imagine, buying diapers gets VERY expensive. This would be a wonderful solution to that. Thanks for the great giveaway!

I have been using cloth exclusively on my almost 4-month-old baby boy since he was about 7 weeks old. We love it! Before we switched he was having constant problems with diaper rash and frequent leaky (& blow-out!) diapers. The cloth just work so much better for him and he seems so much more comfortable. Besides, cloth diapers are way cuter! And using cloth makes me feel so much better about our impact on the environment. I want to teach my son to respect the earth and I think cloth diapers are the perfect way to start. And they will save us a ton of money in the long run, too! Thanks so much for your generous giveaway.

I am cloth diapering mainly for the cost! My dh has lost 2 jobs this year due to the bad economy and his unemployment is about to run out. We are trying to get a good stash going in case times get even worse. I also love the fact that I don't have nasty chemicals next to her bottom, she has eczema so it helps with that a bit.

I love cloth because they are gentle on my baby's bum, easy to use, help the environment, and because they help me save money. I have enjoyed learning about cloth diapers and I will recommend cloth to friends.

I wish I had started using cloth exclusively so much earlier. It is so much better (okay and more enjoyable) to go buy a cute diaper I can wash and user again. Beside disposables actually stink compared to cloth. That fact surprised me. My husband is liking the savings since he is worried about finances because our youngest son is having open heart surgery. I wish I could buy more, but taking care of my youngest is going to be my priority for a while. Who knew cloth could be so addicting.

Cloth diapers have helped us because my daughter was a preemie and has extremely sensitive skin. They also come in really cute designs and save us TONS of money.

I started using cloth to try to get rid of a horrible diaper rash (which ofcourse it did!) but a year and a half later, I love it more than I ever thought I would. I feel like it is one more way that I can start my kids off on the best foot in life. I am trying to teach them that there to life then finding the easiest way to do things. We have to think about our environment and the people around us. We love it!

Cloth diapers have helped us be environmentally friendly. We have decided to be as green as possible this year. We are using cloth on our almost 2 year old, and i am having a new baby in July who will be in cloth from the start.
Also we are having some money issues so I ope this will help since we are not buying disposables all the time.

At first I was very intimidated to make the switch to cloth diapers with DD. She was about 22 months before I made the change, and I still kept a stash of disposable diapers handy "just in case." I don't know what I was so afraid of, though. It has actually turned out to be so incredibly easy and rewarding! Not only has it saves us money, but cloth diapers have also helped my daughter's sensitive skin so much! She used to get rashes all of the time, even with the most expensive brand of disposable diapers on the market. Now, she's happy and loves her different colored diapers. And I love putting her in them!

(Oh, and who doesn't love a fluffy little behind?!) :)

I don't even know where to begin :)

We first switched to cloth because my daughter kept blowing out in every brand of diaper we tried. Nothing worked and her clothes kept getting filthy because of it. It was awful. We switched to cloth and haven't looked back.

After switching to cloth the economy here really took a hit. It seemed we were a little behind the trend, being rural, sometimes it takes a while :) lol.. Anyhow. If it weren't for cloth, we'd be hurting even more financially. It was a blessing that we started when we did. If I had waited, we couldn't have afforded to do so, and if we had waited, we'd be spending so much on disposables, that it would be devastating.

I am very thankful for the information I've found on several community boards regarding cloth and for what it's done for us. It feels great to have something natural against my baby's skin and to be saving at the same time.

We are so glad to use cloth diapers for our 2 sons. I work for the National Park Service and every day we are charged with the mission to preserve our national (cultural & natural) resources and I see ways we can do that in our every day lives. Cloth diapers is one of the best way parents of young children can do that to keep all of those disposables out of landfills. For our family, using cloth diapers helps us simplify our life, in a getting back to basics kind of way, and, honestly, it saves us alot of money and some are so cute!

I like to use cloth diapers because it means no rashes, less garbage, and less money spent on something we just throw away anyway. Besides that, they look really cute!!

Cloth diapers have helped us save a ton of money and trips to go buy diapers. I also hate the way disposables smell after a baby pees in them. So gross! I also like knowing that it is better for my baby and the environment.

This is my 4th baby and I always wanted to try cloth with my first 3.I don't know if I can say they have helped me , But I do enjoy using them and love that I don't have an extra bag of diapers to throw away every day. Plus , as scary as washing them sounded when I was deciding...with 4 kids it is alot easier to go to my moms and do laundry than it would be to go to the store and have to buy some more.

I love cloth diapers because I hate blowouts! We were using disposables at night because I told myself that was simpler. Till the other day I got up my dd and opened her sleeper to find her diaper popped open and poop everywhere! in the feet all over her. I had to just take her straight to the tub and start spraying. In cloth this does not happen, just take off poppy diaper and deal with poppy diaper, not deal with leaked through poopy on bed, on changing tables, all over and in sleeper..... So kind of gross but really don't understand people who don't use cloth diapers because they don't want to deal with poop!

Cloth diapers have really helped our budget in hard times. It has helped us so much to not have to spend so much money on something that just gets crapped in and thrown away!

I used to be afraid of cloth, but a friend finally made me try some and I loved it! It also helps to know that we are contributing to the environment by not being as wasteful, and that my boys don't have nasty chemicals on their bums!

I would love to be entered in your giveaway! Thanks!

Dear Khourtniey,

First I want to thank you for doing this!

When I was pregant with my DD (who is now 17 mos old), I really wanted to CD, but was nervous about the start-up cost and the extra laundry. She was 8 months old when I finally decided I was ready, and there's been no loking back since. My DH was totally on board (he even helps with the laundry!), and now we both prefer CD to sposies. And they are just so, so cute!!

On New Years Eve my DH got laid off unexpectedly, and CDing gives us such relief that we have everything we need for diapering. No $40, that we don't really have, to spend on sposies every couple of weeks. We are expecting baby #2 (a DS!) in March, and although I'm trying to get a few "boyish" dipes, it feels good to know that we have most of what we need for him too.

Thanks again,
Aimee (princessvagnag at yahoo dot com)

We switched to cloth diapers when we started potty training our daughter at 9 months. It helped her to understand how it felt to be wet & with a bit of fun & hard work she's now fully diaper-free (at 23 months). We have a new baby on the way and I got so hooked on cloth that I am starting from birth this time. I love how cute they are & the money that they save us as well as the impact we've been able to have on the environment by going diaper-free at an early age.

I have just started cloth diapering in the past week, but I know that it is going to help me to save money (once I get a stash built up!! That's the expensive part!!) and it's also a great "creative outlet" for me, as I've been trying my hand at making some diapers for my son, too!!

I am a single mom of a 2 year old little girl. I CD her just up until she pottytrained , and loved each and every moment of it. Being a single mom the $ for one helped out not having to spend an arm and a leg on disposiables and using the left over money for more important things in life. They are such a great way to keep the enviorment healthy. And while doing soo they make your LO's butts look SOOOO CUTE. I used to get soo many comments on my daughters fluffy bum. But when she pottytrained i got ride of my stash not thinking id have anymore kids.

Well i am 19 weeks preggo and startin a sash all over again. And i cant wait to have another LO with a cute fluffy bum.

My daughter also has slight case of eczema whenever i used a disposiable on rare outtings she would swell up and rash soo bad. It just goes to show that cloth is better =)

The first thing that comes to mind is how cloth diapers gave me a hobby. I am constantly scouring the internet for new baby related things to learn about. After trying cloth Diapers I was and instant addict! I love how soft they feel, and how cute they look. What baby wouldn't want to wear them!!? There are plenty of other ways they have helped. They will save us a ton of money in the long run. My little guy is free of diaper rash, and they help reduce my green guilt. (I was feeling just terrible about using disposables) I also hope to continue using our stash on our next baby! Although I'm sure I will keep adding to it because I'm addicted! :)

My daughter has had an allergy to some component of disposable diapers since birth, but at first I didn't think of that as a possible cause of the rashes and irritations. I cut out different foods from her diet and mine, changed detergents, stopped using fabric softeners. Then my husband & I finally came to the conclusion that we should try cloth diapering. We got some used diapers from a mom at my breastfeeding support group, but we were unable to get the diapers clean enough without having hot water hooked up to the washer at our apartment. We tried Bac Out and bleach and added extra rinses, but nothing worked and our daughter's rashes got worse. So we waited to switch until we moved into our current house. Then my husband lost his job, so we didn't know how we could build up a supply of cloth diapers. We bought a few prefolds, and then I got some barely used covers through freecycle, and then I applied & was accepted for Miracle diapers' loan program. It has been a lifesaver for us. After 2 days wearing cloth, my daughter's delicate skin was finally not red or pimply or irritated! It finally looks normal, dry, and comfortable! Just thinking about all of that time she was in something that irritated her skin makes me want to cry now, but I know that I did the best that I could until we were able to find a solution. Thank you for offering this lotto. I have a new little one coming in May, and I intend to CD with him from the start!

We decided to do cloth diapers as a way to save money, especially since I won't be returning to work. Our LO is 3 weeks old and so far I think they have also already saved us from several blowouts that I'm SURE would have made it through to her clothes with a disposable. Plus, I just hate the smell of a sposie I found when we used them the first few days. Yuck!

Cloth is great! I love that I can contribute to helping heal the world and that my little lady has something soft and from the earth touching her not just a plastic shell of 'convenience'. Yeah they take a tiny bit more thought as far as preparation and making sure they are washed but to me that is a small issue and it makes me proud knowing she is CDed even if no one else can tell - though I do promote it to whoever is willing to listen. Besides the global effects I also love that it gives me another creative outlet - I love sewing and now I am able to make super cute diapers too! CD is in the list of the top 5 decisions I have made in my life no doubt about it.

Hi! Cloth diapers have helped us so much! My first one wet a LOT, we went through 18+ diapers a day. the absolute only ones that didnt leak were huggies supreme, and theyre crazy expensive! Then i figured out that hes slightly allergic to them after getting cloth. I had 100 bucks, exactly and had no idea when i was going to get some more (my mom was providing food, but with a 5 week old needing size 6 diapers she flat refused to help with those any more, they were costing WAY too much!) i went on a board and got some cloth, and a few mamas helped me out a LOT, and i am still grateful to them for that. Now i just love them, i love the prints, and how soft and cuddly most dipes are, and that i dont have to worry about driving to the store and getting some more diapers, all i have to do is wash some!(well when we have enough) it is so nice and convenient for us, and theres not all the chemicals and paper against their sensitive little butts! thanks for doing the lotto, its super sweet of you!

But when our son became allergic to laytex ( most sposies contain that ) we switched to 7th gen but thouse gave him a rash - so we ended up here , where we should have been all along as a Breast feeding /Co Sleeping / Selective Vaxing / Vegatarian / baby wearing family

To be honest I started cloth diapering due to peer pressure. Or to be cool, I guess. Ha! Several of my friends SWORE to it. I thought fine. I'll give it a shot to shut them up if nothing else. Ha! Once I saw how incredibly easy it was the financial reasons over took me. I had to prove it to my husband. I started a spreadsheet of how much we spent on our son for the first 3 years of his life. Once I showed my husband how much we spent there versus what I could spend buying cloth he slowly relented. He thought I was completely nuts and refused to change diapers but he said whatever in the end. Ha! Now it's all second nature. One more load of laundry but one less bag of garbage at the landfills. Take those bags times 52. Didn't really make sense. I wish I had known about this kind of cloth when our son was a baby. Could have saved a bucket full of money. Ha!

there are a number of reasons to love cloth diapering. for me, i love that i am not adding to landfills with diapers that take 500+ years to decompose. i love that my baby doesn't sit around in pee, unaware that she needs a change. but mostly, i sheepishly admit to enjoying diapering WAY TOO MUCH.

when i was pregnant, i had the time of my life accumulating a stash of diapers, mostly used but in excellent condition. i didn't know what would work best for us so i picked up a cute one here or there, accumulating a colorful stash with in a rainbow of colors and prints, and of various fabrics. some worked brilliantly, some not so much.

washing, hanging, stuffing / snapping and folding diapers has come to be a task i look forward to. i find it oddly relaxing to do this daily maintenance. i don't mind when my baby requires a change 3 times in 15 minutes, because i get to select the next diaper from our stash. i've started asking my sweet girl to choose between two diapers which one she might like next. she also loves changing time.

i never thought i'd relish changing diapers, but i do, thanks to cloth and the mamas who have shared their tips and sold me their extras, outgrown or unloved diapers.

cheers!

I learned about today's CD's from baby sitting for a little girl who was a full time pocket cloth diapered baby. They where just so easy to use that I figured I would look into it more one day when I had my own. Then when I was expecting and looking into the cost of baby sutf the amount needed to be spent on diapers was crazy to me so I started looking into cloth as a money saving option. We started with CPF and fitteds with PUL white covers. But I knew someday I wanted to get cute colored diapers like the little girl I had watched had. Peter was 5 months when we got our first pockets and I have been hooked ever since. Oh and what keeps me addicted are all the good WAHM businesses that do customs and all the moms on blogs that post pics of the stashes they own, making me addicted and wanting to try one of everything.

After tons of research about how much better it is for our child and the environment I decided to switch. Our child use to have horrible diaper rash that all went away when we switched to cloth. I love that fact that we are reusing and using renewable resources. I love that even though our child is eating sold foods we have not had any diaper rash (knock on wood). I am so happy that we decided to join this adventure in cloth diapering. I will never go back and can not stand the smell of disposable diapers.

Oh and they're so cute, how could anyone NOT want a beautiful diaper bootie! :)

I love cding! Initially started cd when my we could not clear dd's persistant rashes,so at 6 months of age we switched her to cloth.Prefolds trifolded into Nikky and Bummis super whisper wraps were our first foray into the vast cd market!
Her rashes cleared overnight it seemed and I was overjoyed that there was no more stinky sposies going into the garbage and adding to the landfills.
We moved on to pockets and all in ones as well. The choices were endless...my favorites being pockets and prefolds w/ doublers under wool for overnight.
You cannot beat the cuteness of a baby/LO in cd's.
I miss cding--since my "BABY" potty learned at 24 months both night and day dry! She's now 3.5 yrs.Time flys...We're TTC and lokking forward to cding again real soon. This time from day 1.
Thanks for the opppurtunity mama.

Cloth diapers have helped us save so much money. I also love the fact that I'm not throwing away diapers that take forever to decompose. CD'ing has made me go green in many other areas as well.

well, cloth diapers seemed so fetch. (a thing of the past) i used disposable ones one my son whom is now 2 years old. we are now exception our 2nd child and thing have changed so much not just with living and learning but also the economy. after watching my money just fly out the window while using disposables, my family felt the pinch after getting laid off from work... with not many choices or options i couldn't just find another job. I was 28 week along feeling as though i'm already about ready to pop. who's going to hire a women whos going to leave in just a few months anyways. because we are feeling the pinch of the economy I've been trying to save money by shopping at goodwill and other thrift stores. i found a large selection of cloth diapers and liners. i figured why not try it out, what else do i have to lose... Not a hole lot at this point. its taken ALOT of research and hands on learning how to use them but we are now month 2 into using cloth diapers and have gotten a stash started for our little girl who will be here any day. i don't know how in the world i didn't keep an open mind to both options. I love how easy it is to plop the poo, wash then reuse! its help our family save sooo much money. in addition to saving the planet for his next generations. together we can all learn how to take care of our selfs better and teach our children what a better tomorrow can look like with little changes.

I love cloth diapers... I always wanted to try them and only had a few with my second daughter. Last year about this time I got a huge surprise - I was expecting a baby and all alone. I knew right away that I would be using cloth this time not only only because I knew they were better for so many reasons, but I honestly had no money to buy disposables. From that moment I learned about how easy they really are to use and all the advantages. I have to say I've fallen in love!

We started out using cloth because we are a young family who needed to save money! Plus me and my husband wanted to be environmentally friendly. Now we have been doing it happily for 6 months and love it! I love that soft, organic materials are touching my baby's skin, they come in cute prints and colors and my daughter has never had a diaper rash. It doesn't make sense to me for people not to cloth diaper

I have been using cloth diapers on my daughter since she was six week old and absolutely love it. I have converted three friends to cloth, too. I hate the smell of disposables and didn't want that on my baby's bottom. She has never had a diaper rash, blowout, or leak with cloth. The few disposables she has been in have been messy experiences. I enjoy saving money, decreasing the waste produced by our home, and doing extra laundry (yes, I love doing laundry!).

We use and love cloth for many reasons - better for my son, better for the environment and better for my pocketbook! We just discovered we are expecting our second baby and are thrilled we won't be paying for two in disposable diapers.
They are easy to use and are much more gentle on my baby's bum - plus they are super cute - great giveaway.

I'm new to the world of cloth diapering. Just got started with research last month. I'm really looking forward to using cloth diapers to save money at home and to produce less waste for our planet. This week we bought used cloth prefolds and have been using those with a few covers. Still need to get a bunch so I can make it work.

Thank you for sharing your story. I'm so glad that your little girl delivered okay at 26 weeks.

Thanks for offering these diapers to complete strangers - I know that some lucky person will be very thankful.

I love cloth diapers because I know no chemicals are getting on my LO's skin. I also think there is some sort of empowerment knowing cloth diapering has been done by women for so many years. Thanks for letting me enter!

I startd CDing to save money. I used sposies for the first 7 weeks and then switched. After starting CDing, I realized how much better it is than sposies. NO MORE BLOWOUTS! They were the bane of my existence before the switch. Now I am happy knowing how soft the cloth is on my DS's bum. And he is so cute with his little donk!

I chose CD this time because I am a SAHM to 2 boys, and we are a 1 income family. I try to do all I can to help our family make every dollar stretch and stop living paycheck to paycheck. Plus I think CD is unique and the dipies are WAY cuter than Pampers. :)

I can't imagine what kind of $$ would be flying out of my wallet if I weren't cloth diapering. Having twins kinda made it a necessity, but I was planning on doing it even before I found out there were two :) It makes diapering enjoyable (we haven't started solids yet lol). I love my diapers!!

I love cloth diapers because they are so cute, less garbage, and cheaper in the long run. I haven't actually started using them yet, but I have started a stash for our expected newborn in 4 1/2 weeks. Thanks for the chance to win!

I stared cloth when DS was 2 month. My 1 and only reason was because they are cute. But when I went to return to work I found out my job was closing that day. Cloth diaper reason #2 now is they have saved me tons of money. I also love the way the help clear up a sore bum and have opened my eyes to a bunch more 'green' things.

I first began using cd's when my oldest (now 10) was 8 mos old after finding some Kooshies (nip!) at a local thrift store. I quickly became addicted! By the time number 2 came around I had a collection of about 200 diapers. :) I love how my kids never got a rash when using cloth and the peace of mind knowing that nasty chemicals were not leaking into my precious babies' skin! I also love the $ we saved in the long run! While it was a lot up front it was a money saver in the long run! I also love knowing that I am not contributing to the diaper waste in landfills.

I just started Cding. 2days ago. Today is my first day CDing. and I love it!!!! I choose to CD due to the cost makes it a Thrifty way. Being a single mother this helps pinch every penny I have. My cost of buying them thrifty should pay off in no more then 3months. Also the thought of less diapers in the Trash is a great bonus as well.
thanks for having this drawing. and congrats to whoever won:)

I would love to enter. I started CD'ing with my second son because we were just short on money and being a SAHM I wanted to do my part to save our family some money for the finer things in life, lol. Now I am CD'ing two and saving a great bundle. After CD'ing I realized howmuch our precious earth is really worth and what we are doing to her by tossing out the trash. CD'ing has brought me to a greener world. It was like a gateway drug. Once I started cd'ing, I started everything. Thanks to another DS mama for offering this giveaway.
